M2Ke design Develops Prototype Designs for Village-Themed Apartment Complex
"Row House" Model Concept
M2Ke design was tasked with developing conceptual prototype unit designs for a new twenty acre apartment complex located in northwest Indiana. The proposed site for the complex was unique and diverse, containing park-like settings along a creek, areas adjacent to a pedestrian business district, and a hard urban street-scape edge on one side. The intent for the complex was to organize the apartment units into a number of neighborhoods that synergize to form a vibrant community.
For M2Ke design,"The challenge was to create a number of distinctly different building types that each responded to its own place within the site, yet had a relationship to and cohesiveness with the others." Each unit type evolved to be well fitted to its respective habitat. However, the different units were also developed utilizing a complementary palette of materials and colors. This approach allowed each prototype concept to be unique, yet effectively tied together with the whole development.
"Park Avenue" Model Concept
M2Ke design also worked closely and collaboratively with the developers and designers of the proposed complex to create a distinctive concept for the lay-out of the site. The provision of ample green space, a focus on pedestrian access and views, and a community approach to site planning all contribute to a quality living environment for the future tenants of this development.
